How it works.
Core Mobility's Visual Voicemail isn't just a pretty face tacked on to an existing voice mail system—it is a completely new product that uses mobile data services to send and receive messages. When a new outgoing message is recorded, the voice mail server routes it via the Visual Voicemail gateway directly to the handset, which downloads the message and stores it in flash memory. You get an alert when the message is ready to play. The entire process works in the background and is always available—there's nothing to launch or download. Visual Voicemail is available whenever your handset is turned on.
No data coverage? No problem. Visual Voicemail works just about anywhere there's a signal. If somebody leaves you a message when data service is not available, you are simply prompted to make a traditional voice call to hear the message. When you return to data coverage, the message is automatically downloaded to the handset inbox.
Visual Voicemail doesn't just receive messages—it lets you compose messages, too. You can send voice messages to any Visual Voicemail or VoiceSMS handsets, or to any other mobile phone that supports text messaging or even email.
